DILO

Day in the life of a Consultant:

Wake up at 7( read 7:20), skip breakfast, if possible a tea with a cookie( of course picked from the exclusive selection based on expensiveness).
If evil has his word, you will be called up for a breakfast meeting at 7:30 for discussing work but what u will have is everything but work.

Rush to take a bath and run and reach the client's office at 8 am in the morning. Consider yourself blessed and lucky if manager turns up later.

start with today's plan, yesterday's update and tomorrow's plan. Check your mails, reply to them and keep on following up every petty things with your client. Explain the same thing at least 80 times before they understand 20% of it. This is the golden 80-20 rule of consulting. Even if this rule apply, there is a reverse phenomenon 20-80, out of the 20% they would not retain 80%
So your personal MCS will become a loop 20% ka 20% ka 20% and at the end u will end up doing all that yourself.

Prepare the presentation, action logs, meeting effectiveness for day's meetings. Discuss and get sign off from client. Discuss reasons for non performance and deviations. Keep on doing rework day n night n night and day with an infinite loop in place.

If you are able to sustain the day night schedule , you  will be sometimes treated with costliest tickets to opera shows, magnificent dinner, restaurants where the bill for your team will be far more than your monthly salary.

You will come back to your 5 star room with a 40" TV in your bathroom too. You will of course never care of all the luxury, as u wont find time. Your mouth will ache after all the funda sharing sessions in the day.

You will review score cards, balanced ones  week after week, its compliance against base-target even if you have no balance in your personal and professional life.

You control and improve all the processes in your Client's organisation while at the same time you have no control on any of your personal processes. The lead times, performance of your body will keep on deteriorating.

But you will learn and grow eventually....till u call it a day :)
